Why I Still Get Dressed In The Middle Of A Pandemic
Ok so hear me out… I still like to get dressed during this pandemic simply because it just makes me feel good about myself…! That’s literally it! I wish I had some long drawn out quote for you but that’s just my honest thoughts about getting dressed at the moment. You see, before all of this madness started in the world I was literally an “on the go person”. I would live at the movies, museums, and malls like it was an everyday adventure so that meant I was always excited to put on a new outfit for the day. Now that the world has slowed down and my lifestyle is the total opposite I honestly stopped getting dressed as much as I used to. I found myself just looking like a hot mess anytime I would have to run in the store or complete any other simple errands around the city. At first, I was embracing the “cozy dressing” life but then I started to realize I was letting my appearance fall by the wayside and I did not like that at all!
About halfway through this pandemic, I started to change my attitude about how I would look when I leave the house. Grant it, some days I do just throw on a t-shirt and call it a night (because I’m normal) but I have really made a conscious effort to actually wear the clothes I have purchased over the recent months. I know that I am not technically “going anywhere fancy” but why does that even matter? I have soooo many winter clothes that I have to wear and what better way to share my outfits with the world by getting dressed to go to the store! I even go as far as to get dressed when I get on zoom calls because it makes me feel like I am actually chatting with the person face to face instead of having a computer screen between the two of us!
And trust me, some days I just want to roll out of the bed and walk around the world in sweat pants but I always feel a little less productive when I do so. Getting dressed just adds a little bit of pep in my step and I just don’t see the harm in that at all. This past year was super hard for me and so many people across the globe so if something as simple as wearing cute clothes to check the mailbox makes you feel fancy then so be it. You do you girl because at the end of the day I do believe the world could use a little more positivity and happiness at the moment given the fact that the previous year was pretty crap! Ha!
Anyways, enough of that little spiel on this beautiful Wednesday afternoon! Let’s chat about this outfit, shall we? Now you already know what I am about to say, this entire look was thrifted and I could not be more proud of myself! My shoes, belt, pants, glasses, handbag, and both sweaters are all pre-owned and it makes me feel like such a boss! Ha! Don’t get me wrong, I still like to find looks in retail and the clearance racks but these are just some pieces I thrifted at the beginning of quarantine that I am just getting around to sharing here on the blog.
Well, that’s all I wanted to chat about on the blog today! I am currently sipping on some coffee, washing my covers, and just having a full-on self-care day! What are you guys up to today? Let me know in the comments down below! Stay safe and Happy Wednesday!
