Come Shopping With Me For Two New Books That I Have Never Read Before!
Hello and happy Friday everyone! It's the last day of the week and I couldn't be happier about it! However, I must say that I am a bit sad because it will be raining a lot BUT that doesn't mean I have to let all of that time go to waste. As a 90's kid, I have to remind myself that I was easily occupied by the simple things in life like riding my bike or getting lost within a book! It was during this thought is when I realized I needed to go on the hunt for a few new books. Grant it, I never like to step outside of my comfort zone but I guess I will try to give it a try since this is the year of risk-taking! Ha! #SLAY2019
Anyways, I decided to hop up out of bed, grab breakfast and head out on my journey to the bookstore!!
My original plan was to branch out of my typical genre and try something totally different! Reading is something that is very personal and intimate so I really believe in investing your time in reading things that you know you will absolutely love but sometimes that may not always be the case. For instance, there were plenty of things that I
DID NOT want to read in college but I really pushed myself to do so.
Did that mean I hated reading? Of course not! As a matter of a fact, reading things I wasn't familiar with taught me discipline and open-mindedness. Now sometimes when I decide to do a little book shopping I always make sure to pick up at least
one book that I normally wouldn't read. I find that taking this route eventually will expose me to new genres and will possibly help me expand my horizons when it comes to reading. Trust me, it hasn't always been this easy to step outside of my reading comfort zone, as a matter of a fact, it took a very loooooonnnng time to start embracing the other elements within the reading world. That's why today was so important because lately I have been reading the same style novels and have been wanting to delve into something deeper. Grant it, I know I don't have to give up my favorite reads to explore something new so I decided to scope out two different books so that I can have a little bit of both worlds.
The first book is from the Author James Patterson! I love his work and most of his books keep me coming back time and time again! I decided to pick this book as my one
familiar pleasure for the weekend ahead. I chose this book based off of two reasons: I love the work from James Patterson and the synopsis was pretty good. I'll add a little excerpt here:
Axi Moore is a "good girl": She studies hard, stays out of the spotlight, and doesn't tell anyone how all she really wants is to run away from it all. The only person she can tell is her best friend, Robinson—who she also happens to be madly in love with.
When Axi spontaneously invites Robinson to come with her on an impulsive cross-country road trip, she breaks the rules for the first time in her life. But the adventure quickly turns from carefree to out of control after the teens find themselves on the run from the police. And when Robinson suddenly collapses, Axi has to face the truth that this trip might be his last.
"A remarkably moving tale very personal to James Patterson's own past, FIRST LOVE is a testament to the power of first love—and how it can change the rest of your life".
That's just a little snippet from the Author's website and the back of the book! I think it may be a good read and I'll let you guys how it is once I get started!
This next book that I decided to pick up is called
The Secret by Rhonda Byrne! I have heard sooo many things about this book and I have wanted to read it for years but I just never got around to it! As soon as I saw it in the store I decided it would be a good time to finally dive into what this book is actually about.
A little excerpt:
The Secret is a self-help book about the power of positive thinking by Rhonda Byrne. The book is based on a pseudo-scientific theory called the “law of attraction” – the principle that “like attracts like.” Specifically, Byrne focuses on the idea that your dreams do in fact come true – thinking about money and wealth will attract these very things, causing them to manifest in your life. Likewise, fretting over a worst-case scenario will only cause your fears to be realized. Hence the importance of positive thinking. There are no accidents and bad luck. Instead, Byrne writes, “Your life right now is a reflection of your past thoughts.”
That's a little look into the synopsis from across the interwebs! If you've read this book before, let me know what you think about it! PS: No spoilers! I can't wait to get started on the readings!

I must say that today was quite the journey looking for books! I am very glad to have picked out a few that I will be willing to read! I want to try to get both of them done in two weeks time but I'm not going to fret too much about it! I guess I'll end this post with the fact that I purchased the cutest little book mark that has my initital on it! How cute is that? Anyways, what books are you guys reading at the moment? I'd love to know!
