Shreveport Louisiana Travel Guide: The Best Seafood Around The City!
As a southern girl that was born and raised in the swamp, I am telling you that I would never lead you in the wrong direction of some very good places to grab some seafood. There are soooo many places on my list that I love but today I am going to focus on my two favorite places in all of Shreveport, Louisiana.
John's Seafood
Don't get it twisted, this little hut kicks out some of the best seafood around the city! They sell everything from shrimp fried rice, popcorn shrimp, crawfish tails, fresh fried fish and soooo much more. This place is an all-time favorite amongst the family and we make sure to hit up this place every time that we visit the city.
My go-to order is the No. 21, 2 piece fish and 6 shrimp combo with fries and a roll on the side. Sometimes I do love to get the popcorn shrimp and add fish on the side when I want to switch it up, but other than that I like to stick with my No. 21! Oh, and make sure that you order the tartar sauce because I don't care what anyone says, Louisiana has the best tartar sauce in all of the lands!
PS: Sometimes if you're lucky, you will get a few extra shrimp added to your order like I did today! You better believe I was super excited about it! Oh and remember there are two John Seafood's in the city of Shreveport but you better make sure you go to the one on North Market! It has the best seafood and service! If you try it, I know you WILL NOT be disappointed!
Beaujax Crafthouse
Ok, so this place was very new to me but word around the city is that it's the hottest place to eat in the city right now! And if you're from the South then you already know that any type of
word on the street means you better listen up or you're gonna miss out on what's currently popping!
As soon as I arrived, I noticed so much cute writing all over the building and I thought that it was so cute! Even though I haven't tasted the food I am already sold on the ambiance of the entire place.
Anyways, as soon as I entered the building the first thing that I asked for was a little wall seat for just me and my boyfriend. It wasn't too long before I had grabbed the menu and started to see what I would possibly want to eat for the evening. To my surprise, they offered a variety of Southern-y things such as Cajun Deviled Eggs, Boudin, Gumbeaux and soooo much more. However, it wasn't long before I feasted my eyes on the meal of my dreams....
Crawfish PepperJax Mac N' Cheese
Before I settled on my order I knew I had to ask the people around me what the food tasted like because you can always count on my fellow Louisianians to tell you the truth about something! Ha! Anyways, I decided to order the Crawfish PepperJax Mac N' Cheese with Crawfish Tails and Shrimp! When I tell you that Mac N' Cheese was sooooo amazingly gooey, full of seafood and sooo cheesy! I And if shrimp and crawfish aren't enough for you, I want to also add to the fact that you can also add chicken and sausage to the mixture as well! One thing for sure, I knew I wanted mines loaded with whole lotta seafood and seafood only! I know I may have over did it but
when in Rome....right? Ha!
And of course, my boyfriend spent the longest time looking at the menu
*major eye roll* but it was our first time there so I let him have a little pass! Anyways, he decided to get the blackened catfish po'boy and he loved it!
Blackened Catfish Poboy
He says he loved it and gave it an overall 7 on a scale of 10! But you know I couldn't let him eat his food without having a few bites myself so that I could see what all of the fuss was about! And when I tasted it I can honestly say it was pretty darn good but not better than my Mac n' Cheese! Ha! The poby was well seasoned, filled with two big pieces of Catfish and came with a bag of Zapp's potato chips!
These New Orleans Kettle Style VooDoo chips were so darn good! I am wondering why they don't sell them in Texas!! Then again, all of the Mardi Gras, King Cake, good seafood life is always located in the real South of Louisiana! Ha! Anyways, this concludes my little post about my two favorite places to eat at every time I head back to the ole' boot! If you're from around the Shreveport area, what places do you like to grab some seafood from? And if you're not from there, do you think you'd try any of these places that I mentioned?? Let me know below!
